What is a High Speed Mixer/Blender?
A High Speed Mixer/Blender is a single shaft mixer used to blend ingredients
requiring moderate shear. This is accomplished using a "high vane"
blade rotating at 3000 to 3500 feet per minute peripheral speed. The
blade imparts some shear forces to the ingredients, but also blends
due to the pumping action of the high vane design. Through proper blade
selection and sizing, a substantial flow can be established that will
repeatedly turn over the batch and yield a homogeneous product. High
Speed Mixer/Blenders are most often used for "let down" or
"thin down" of pre-dispersed products into liquids.
Features/Options Available:
- Sizes from 2 horsepower to 200 horsepower
- Most often tank mounted, but
can be hoist mounted or tank mounted with short hoist configuration
-
Inverter, mechanical variable
speed, single speed, and two speed drives available
-
Change can, fixed, or multiple
fixed position designs on hoist mounted models
-
Stainless steel or carbon steel
material of construction
-
Mill to highly polished finishes
-
Uses the Hockmeyer G (high vane)
blade which provides a combination of shear and pumping
-
Typically designed for atmospheric
operation, but vacuum or pressure designs are available
-
Electrical components for hazardous
or safe environments
The Hockmeyer Difference
Hockmeyer is willing to examine your process and tailor our equipment
recommendations to your needs. If your tank has a cone bottom, for instance,
we may suggest a smaller blade on the bottom, and a larger blade on
an adjustable slide hub at mid-batch level. Many of the mixers we build
are custom designed. We want to build a machine for you that is the
most efficient mixer for your process.
