What is a Double Planetary Mixer?
A Double Planetary Mixer is a twin shaft mixer in which the shafts rotate
around a sun gear. The blades are simple rectangular "gate"
blades oriented ninety degrees from each other. The paths of the blades
intersect and pass within 3/32" of the tank wall. Double Planetary
Mixers are used to mix medium to high viscosity non-flowing products.
These high torque, low speed mixers fold viscous ingredients into a homogenous
product. Double Planetary Mixers are used to make products such as rubber
cements, silicones, and battery pastes.
HOCKMEYER has recently developed a high performance
helical blade for their line of planetary mixers. This is
the result of years of experience with various types of helical blade
designs
that are the benchmark in their line of dual and triple shaft high
viscosity mixers. Although helical style blades are currently available
from other manufactures, there are significant difference that make
the HOCKMEYER Planetary Helix unique and superior. More
