What is a Disperser?
A Disperser is a single shaft mixer used to break apart or dissolve solid
particles in a liquid. This is typically accomplished using a "saw
tooth" blade rotating at high speed (approximately 5200 feet per
minute peripheral speed). The blade imparts high shear forces to the ingredients
to be dispersed, breaking them apart. Through proper blade selection and
sizing, a flow can be established that will repeatedly turn over the batch
and yield a homogeneous product. Dispersers are most often used to mix
low viscosity products such as paints.
Features/Options Available
- Sizes from 2 horsepower to 400 horsepower
- Hoist, tank mounted, or tank mounted with short
hoist configuration
- Inverter, mechanical variable speed, single speed,
and two speed drives available
- Change can, fixed, or multiple position designs
on hoist mounted models
- Stainless steel or carbon steel material of construction
- Mill to highly polished finishes
- Various high speed blades available including:
the Hockmeyer F (saw tooth) blade for most applications, the D (ring)
blade which provides mechanical and hydraulic shear similar to a rotor
stator, and the G (high vane) blade which provides a combination of
shear and pumping. Blade

- Typically designed for atmospheric operation,
but vacuum or pressure designs are available
- Electrical components for hazardous or safe environments
The Hockmeyer Difference
Hockmeyer Equipment has been manufacturing Dispersers for fifty years.
The fact that we have a thriving used equipment business reselling our
old Dispersers is proof of the utility and durability of our machines.
